Day 01 Mawlamyine sightseeing tour ( by private AC car) ( - /- /- )
Get picked up from Mawlamyine airport by car and start your city tour by visiting the local market and trying some of delicious Mawlamyine food. Then take a short ride trishaw ride (Burmese cyclo) to get to the old well-maintained Kalyani Sima( Ordination Hall), one of the holy religious sites in Mawlamyine.
In the afternoon, go to some of the old colonial buildings such as St. Matthew Church and the First Baptist Church located on the upper main road of the city. The latter one is founded in 1827 by Adoniram Judson (the first American Missionary arrived in Myanmar).
Next, drive along Mawlamyine mountain ridge to visit Sein Done Mipaya monastery, an old wooden monastery donated by Queen Sein Done, the beloved queen of King Mindon in Mandalay.
Watch the sunset at famous Kyaikthalyan Paya (old Kipling pagoda) at a hill overlooking the city.
Then transfer to your hotel. Stay overnight in Mawlamyine.
Day 02 Mawlamyine – Ye ( by private AC car) ( - /- /- )
After hotel check out, drive to the outskirt of Yangon to visit Proceed to Win Sein Taw Ya, a big reclining Buddha images built on the hill slope. Inside is many rooms where there are some illustrations about important life events of Buddha and Jataka( the previous life) stories.
Then head to Thanpyuzayat, the small town in the south of Mawlamyine. It was the western terminus of infamous 415 km long Burma-Siam railway, dubbed the death railway by the thousands of Allied prisoners of war and Asians who were forced to build it by the Japanese Imperial army in 1943.
Next, drive to Kyaik Kha Mi, known as Amherst during the British era, used to be a small coastal resort and missionary center. The town is an atmospheric seaside destination with the rocky and muddy beach. Visit Yele Paya, a famous Buddhist shrine complex peaching on the rocks by the sea and connected with the mainland by a covered causeway.
Before arrival to Ye, we will stop at Banana Mountain overlooking the whole Ye valley. The tower at the top has its nine levels with different decorations on each level.
Then transfer to your hotel and stay overnight in Ye.
Day 03 Ye - Dawei ( by private AC car) ( B/- /- )
After hotel check-out, head to Kyaung Ywa, Mon and Kayin village of wooden stilt houses perched over the Ye River along a road that winds through betel nut, rubber and pineapple plantations. Then get a longtail boat and head to go Kyaing Lakoiw Paya.
After returning by boat trip, leave for Dawei (169 Km, about 4 hours’ drive.) you will soon start to ride over a stunning mountain range dividing the Tanintharyi Division and the Mon State. On arrival in Dawei, transferred to your hotel.
Stay overnight in Dawei.
Day 04 Dawei City Tour. (By private AC car) ( B/- /- )
After breakfast, explore the old colonial town of Dawei. Formerly known as Tavoy, it was one of the first settlements of British Burma with a rich legacy of colonial-era buildings, old merchant houses, and stucco mansions. Stop at Dawei’s Paya Gyi museum with a valuable collection of a variety of antiques and Shwe Taung Sar pagoda.
Head to Myaw Yit that is a small Pagoda, connected by a bridge with the mainland. Afterward, we are going for a swim or taking a stroll along San Maria Beach.
In the late afternoon, enjoy the relaxed and uncrowned beach atmosphere of well-known Maung Ma Gan (except holidays). Return to your hotel. Stay overnight in Dawei.
Next morning, you can continue to Htee Ke, a border town for travel in Thailand. Or you can fly to Yangon with your arrangement.
